Web sites for soil depth surveys

Hi all, just wondering if there are web sites to use that can tell you how deep or shallow the over burden is in a particular area so you can narrow down detectable areas and if so what am I looking for in the search, should I be punching in satellite image data, or geo whateveryoucallit surveys, any info would be great

Also regolith maps or map layers on things like Geovic may be helpful. Also look for shallow lead layers if available.

Thanks mate, I'll check it out, I need to learn the terminology so I can understand what I'm looking at
