Pretty impressive clean up Silver. Who knew it looked so nice. Was the scratch from retrieval or already there?

That would have already been there Gt,... there was too much crud on it to have gotten a scratch, and I only used an artist brush on it for the cleanup in a ceramic ramakin,... could perhaps have been some residue under it, but the chances of that causing a long straight scratch would be pretty slim,... it would be more likely to be a curved type scratch as the coin is rotated and brushed,.. but would happen on the underside being rotated against the ceramics with bits of debris causing the scratches/ versus the brush dragging debris across the coin, as I am fairly gentle on the brush strokes. ;)

With CLR everything looks like new, even the scratches,... verses CAB, which preserves the patinated surface in some instances. ;)

Some good recent finds there silver, gotta love a 1910 silvery
Yeah,... the pinnacle of aussie coins to detect,...1910 has gotta be it for an aussie named coin,... great too that it's a different king just for that year . :D

Well,... I'm starting to get the old silvers ready for the CAB versus CLRB test.
If anyone feels a certain coin or two shouldn't be included let me know before hand and we can remove them or just know which ones they are,... I'm pretty sure they were only ever cleaned with soap and water if anything previously,... I've even included my favourite sniffer florin too(I'll find a new one soon). It may take me a while to actually do the testing(bathing),... but I will show that they are grouped and recorded prior and that they will remain in their proper groups throughout the experimental procedure. I will ensure that the mix ratio and amounts are the same and fresh for each coin individually throughout it all.
here's the organizational photos.

That was me special one to sniff before a hunt,... if I was in need of a refresher (like a bloodhound being given the scent before the chase),... it was stored in a coin capsule, never been washed at all, still fully scented from the ground with that silver scent that diffuses into the surroundings and permeates ever so slightly into the air and onto the breeze,.... more of a feeling inside your head then an identifiable smell, but smell i does,... and it drives a man wild,.... ARRROOOOOOOO. (HA). ;)

Sorry to say Heatho but itll only be tha other bit of the amalgum that diffuses into the ground to give that halo effect,... but in so saying you may be able to practice by smelling the difference between9, 12, 24, 18 & 22 ct gold,... but you will need to have them uncleaned and/or straight from the ground and still dirty for the best circumstances to give a positive result. ;) :D

had a hunt at an old spot the other day.
