Hi,

Got myself a gpx 4500 finally. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck at Amherst near talbot. i have been before but had no luck.
Have not read on here of anyone going there, also if someone has been and has any detector setting tips, thanks

I have only been through there once and struggled to find good ground to go on as a lot was under private lease. I have seen lots of good nuggets from there, so they are still there if you get in the right spot and hold your tongue to the left ;). Sorry I can't be of more help but I don't spend much time in Vic.

Hi, what detector did you have last? What coils are you using and do you run a booster or headphones? What settings are you using ATM? Cheers

Yes mate, there is lots still to be found there.
I know a few blokes that head there often and do well.
If you work around possom gully road and blacksmith road you will
Do ok
Research the area of these two and you will be pinging nugs in no time :)

awsome , thanks guys, yea i know blacksmiths gully, will have another go.
this is my first detector, its a 4500 no booster and mono, think its a 11 inch

Google some settings to play with.
Just go slow, coil on the soil and dont be afraid to get the coil around tree
stumps and under branches.
Your in shallow ground so detect the rim of the workings.
And dont forget to look at ground that was surfaced :)
I rekon you have plenty to go by now.
Good luck out there
