Hi all,
I'm new to the scene and only been fossicking for about a year. Found this the other day. Just wodering what it might be.

Looks like it could be sapphire/common corrundum. Which area was it found? That will help with more of an exact idea of what it is.

I found it at mt Crawford in SA. It has some weight to it and appears to be metallic.

Still sort of looks like corundum to me, though the crystal shape is not quite right it certainly does look like it. The conchoidal fracture in it is also a sign of it being corundum. Though it could be anything. If you can do a specific gravity test that will tell you if it is corundum or not.
