Hey everybody

Bogan and I went for a three hour session this morning and here is the best of what we have found ....

Today's tally was 3 x large penny, 1 x 2 cent brown bugger, 2 x modern 10 cents, 2 x shillings, 2x six pence, 1x three pence, a ring that is possibly silver, and the usual stuff.

I got my personal best coin today, a 1873 English Shilling in pretty good condition....

All in all another great session... Still amazing to be finding old silvers!

Thanks guys - Bogan picked up a brand new CTX3030 today so it will be interesting to see how we go with that bit of kit on the beach! Stay tuned!

the CTX3030 is very cool. First time you immerse completely you'll be pooping bricks sideways (then eventually you won't freak out).
I found a small 925 stamped ring at the beach with mine today - very happy with it. Good luck to SA Bogan with his.

Following on from yesterday ... Today we headed down to the beach with the Sovereign GT and the new CTX 3030. As a first time observer, it is like watching something from Star Wars compared to what I am using!

Bogan was in learning mode so really wasn't a fair playing field ... We found lots of junk targets and these finds...

There is a florin and a half penny in amongst the coins, a couple of big bullet slugs, two rings, and a very ornate lead dog with a Made in England stamp on the back ....

Here is a personal best find for me and the Sovereign.... Is it gold?

I think it might be! This will be my first gold ring if it is!

We shall see when it is all cleaned up - must have been in the water quite a while - a Masonic symbol on the front.

The CTX proved to find the smallest of targets - which while Bogan is learning the machine it is to my advantage - I covered quite a bit more ground while he struggled to find the rivet head... :). I am sure in a couple of sessions he will be showing me up one again.

Well done, sure looks like Gold, hopefully it will be.

Having a more sensitive detector can be a pain sometimes as it does slow you right down on those fiddly small targets which are usually junk. I had a read of the 3030 manual today and there is a lot to get your head around. Sure Sa will have it sorted in no time. Must be a setting to discrim out the tiny stuff like that.

Hope it is gold, my last masonic ring turned out to be common old brass unfortunately. Good to see you trying a few detectors, what has happened to the Sovereign, has it been retired?

nah he is still using the sovereign, im the one who picked up the ctx :) I still have the excalibur but not sure what to do with it

I suppose hold onto it until you are 100% happy with the ctx, some days you may prefer the simplicity of the excalibur, who knows. :)
