1SOMERSETER, as said by others already, do lots of research. Its not quiet as simple as walking out into the arid regions/deserts of WA & picking up gold.
there's a vast amount of info on this forum
also work your way thru the WA Dept Mines website, until you dig your way into their 'Tengraph' system
1st thing you MUST have is a 'WA Miners Right' .. AU$25
not following the rules & law here will get you in a spot of strife

But really.... get it all sorted beforehand.
and don't get sunburned.... unless your endowed with plenty of melonin (read that as heaps) ,.... you'll be lobster red unless you cream up with spf100 (probly clay based) or cover right up and carry a parasol pick in one hand and the detector in the other.
I'm only sayin because my Lilly white skin burns on top of burns because I can't help myself at all..... it's the fever that makes you not care (silver fever for me) ,.... but you... you get gold fever out there and get lazy in the desert...... n you'll burn..... JUST LIKE M E...
