Hi, I have been out panning in my local area.. Around old mined creeks in the diamond creek area and surrounds. I have been finding really small pieces of gold (I mean minuet). Where I am looking there is lots of quartz, all different colours. Do you think I am missing some of the gold? Should I continue to look in the same area or move on?
I am only new to the panning / prospecting game. Definitely getting gold fever though!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Cam

If your finding some colour and it's close to home why not stay and practice and if your concerned about losing gold you can pan into a bucket or another pan or somthing similar, and then after your done pan your workings to see if you are throwing any gold out of your pan.

Thanks Mattem. I'll start panning over a bucket so I can see if I have lost any. Good suggestion.

Panning is great fun. Today I went out and had a wombat come right up to me..

Keep the colour coming.. I guess it's better than finding nothing at all.

Cheers
