If you go to Hicks Ck, far west NT, there is an amethyst vein in the bed of the creek. I took out about 150 kg over 3 seasons. Upstream from the concrete crossing is a basalt bar, some 120m upstream It is all hard rock digging. The vein was about 3.5 m long.

Co-ords -16.1981986, 129.0557226

Good campsite immediately before the grid, and left 250 m

Plenty of locations for garnet fossicking in the Harts Ranges, central NT.

Nice big lump.
Have you, or are you going to dig it out?
Cheers

Took it and about another 130 kg. The actual amethyst vein was over 10ft long but the vein was about 20 ft.
Still some left, but in hard basalt; too hard for hammer and chisel.

Cheers, Bobj.
