Glad to be part of the group and look forward to contributing. Im in Perth WA but have just cut my teeth looking for sapphire in Tasmania. Was wondering if someone with more expertise on sapphire ID can help me out with a stone I found

A lump of Quartz I think?. Def NOT a Sapphire... Better pics are needed and a SG(specific gravity) test should be done...

Whilst not all agate has banding this looks more like quartz to me. Possibly may help if you mentioned where it was found.

Did better than my wife and I quite few years ago in the Weld river, was early days probably didn't know what we were doing!
