I'm puzzled - how does grinding everything a bit finer after a few minutes in a rod mill, make it easier to separate out the gold?

One line says, "Although the gold weighs more than heavy minerals, the particles are flat, making it much harder to separate."

While another says, "...as the tumbler turns, the rods inside grind any rock into dust and flatten any bits of gold."

If the gold is hard to separate because it's flat, flattening it more seems like a step in the wrong direction to me.

Nice find indeed. Ill admit, it took a second for me to realise what was going on here too..

This could also solve the mercury issues in those countries as they already use a rod mill to crush the cons.

Its soo simple indeed. Make the gold particles flat so they wont pass through a fine mesh but the waste will. Love it. 0.05 micron - 99% recovery, certainly cant complain about that.
