I read an artical many moons ago regarding moss containing gold. I tried it on the Aberfeldy River and found I did find a speck, so that would have to be the fastest way to sample a creek think. Have you any tips on the subject.

Cheers Dave..

Hi Dave ,
I've found fine gold in moss , grass roots , and even large downed tree roots ..... I can't really say if moss is a consistent test for sampling or not ? Crevassing may be as successful , depending on where the moss/crevasse is in relation to the flow of gold in any given waterway .....
I'm no expert , so perhaps a more experienced fossicker could add to this ?
Steve .

At a guess I'm going to go with the undisturbed ground theory. The reality is moss is to frequent to be reliable, only use as an indicator of undug territory
