Very cool - a lot of small toys were cast in lead back in the 30s and 40s - I have a brother who collects old molds from that time and it looks familiar.

Hi Bushranger, I could be completely on the wrong track here but it does remind me of a small (about 40 mm long) lead aeroplane (looks like a fighter - guess a spitfire) that I have. My father was 7 when WW2 broke out and he had 2 brothers, a sister and also a brother in law in the services, as well as a bunch of cousins, so they made moulds in the damp ground and made these little aeroplanes. It may be a one off? or as Paulmarr said it could be a commercial one. Always interesting to find something different, makes you wonder about its history and how it got to be where you found it.
