Greetings all, thought its about time I start my own finds thread.. :D Which also allows me to document it all in one place for my own future reference too
When life gets in the way of hitting the goldfields with the 4500 i enjoy getting the x-terra out in my spare time, and i must say theres plenty of inspiration on this forum seeing all the cool old coins & relics everyone digs up!
Over the past few months with a bit of research iv hit some areas local to me, & not so local..

First being a World War 2 military camp, which so far iv been to twice for about 6 hours total swing time. I think Iv barely scratched the surface so far as the area is pretty big & a bit overgrown, & only a few old building foundations remaining..

I was pretty stoked to come across the aussie forces button :) The condition of all the finds are fairly poor, i think the ground stays fairly damp most of the time & maybe a little acidic? 8.(
Second visit..

I was surprised these shaving cream tubes lasted so well, buried since 1942 era.. i verry carefully unrolled them, like a used toothpaste tube! :8

I plan on getting back to this spot as soon as im able, i reckon theres a lot more still waiting.
More to follow & Cheers for looking :D

It is great to see another 705 thread up and running Husky. The 705s love the military sites and just behind the drip lines of old trees are magnets for the good stuff ;) just think where you would collapse with exhaustion after a long run or where you would sneek off to for a sly session on the grog.

I unroll all my toothpaste rolls as well, it is amazing how well preserved some of them are.

Keep them coming. :p

Found a few bent like that, I presumed they were bent like that to hook over their mess tins.

Can anyone confirm or dismiss this ???

Thanks for commenting everyone, I appreciate your input :D Im still coming to terms with the 705 & Ive been trying to concentrate more on tones now without relying on id's which only time in the field rewards..
I originally started off in prospecting mode, (what a nightmare!) but i think im getting pretty familiar with it all now, + Im already looking to upgrade when funds allow.
Interesting tip about the drip lines wally, certainly gets the mind tickin over ;) Kinda like workin the old washing line area? ;)
Must admit Im amazed at the condition of the old 'Mennen' brand shaving cream tube, still has 'actual' shaving cream remnants inside it after 70 odd years 8) Maybe it does have something to do with the lead content?!
HaHa I was curious about the yoga fork also, it does look intentionally shaped? You could be onto something there Silver! :D

Regards,

One of my local schools dates back around 100 years or so which had a few goodies too, just about cleaned this spot out with the discrimination so far but i think i might go over it again & see if ive missed anything which i probably have

Cheers everyone,

Your in the clear Husky,... that nick in the 1950 6d is an old one(I can tell from here),.... lotsa nice finds goin on for you,... and the large clip thingamajig was probably a tie down point for a rope,.. sort of like what they have on the old well type utes, but could have been on anything that needed tying shut I would think. :D

Thanks everyone, i think the hard part is finding decent old potential areas to swing over, my area is pretty old history wise but a lot has been built on/turned over with rubbish fill and inaccessible unfortunately :|
Got a couple more local spots to try tho so hoping for some older coins, plus theres still my nature strip i havnt finished yet :D

Youve got a good eye there Silver! i was sure i knicked the 6d :8 but i do feel a bit better about it now :) Interesting observation on the clip thingo too mate, i can picture it on one of the old ute boxes fixing a load down.. i was thinking an old trunk lid catch or something, like the old travel trunks etc but i reckon i prefer your observation ;)
