I live in Hervey Bay and with family (wife and 2 boys) and work I don't get out of town much. Does anyone know good areas for using a metal detector in the area?

I know Gympie is good and I've heard someone has found gold in Maryborough. Does anyone know good areas close to Hervey Bay for using a metal detector?
