its a very interesting place Indonesia, particularly Borneo. Its rich in most resources, gold included but due to the terrain majority of the producing areas are almost impossible to access by road or even foot, chopper being the only real option. I lived there and flew many times from Balikpapan heading north west, the inland scenery is mind-boggling.. massive shear cliffs, dens jungle, mountainous terrain with huge gorges, you name it Borneo has it. Even managed to see orangutang's in the wild - that was pretty cool. Most of the dens inland areas is where the Dayaks originate from, the most feared of all clans who are extremely protective. East Java is just as interesting with its active volcanos, temples and tombs. The Indonesian people themselves are an interesting bunch, very resourceful and champions of improvisation. Did the Anzac Day morning ceremony a few times in Balikpapan, so glad I did. Many fond memories of Borneo
