I went to get a new v belt for the drill press ,couldn't be bothered measuring so I just took the unit off the stand .
In doing so I thaught that this would be a pretty cost effective way to build a small sampling mill.
Just put a welded bolt in the chuck etc ,and a 6" or 8" piec of pipe .you can pick a drill press up for $100 new .
It's got a 300 w motor though ,would that be enough to power it ?.

People are using cordless grinders so I think this should have plenty of grunt

Hey Dug
Great idea to power a mill!! but try thinking a little more outside the "Square" forget about the chuck section you already have everything you need, the motor, belts & pullies instead of the belt to the chuck drive, take the belt to the shaft drive on the mill, should be able to make it interchangeable, drill to mill in a few minutes.
cheers
Lee

Thanks rc62burke that's a good idea .I could leave it sitting next to it then .
It's a great little power unit everything is there.
