does any one know what this is (green stone)

Hello all I found this a few weeks ago near tin can bay. It feels heavy for its size it's is polished from the creek it's been in. I broke it with a cold chisel to see the inside.it is very hard does not scratch. Any help will be great thanks..

It looks a lot like nephrite jade (NZ greenstone), but I don't know whether that occurs on this side of the Tasman.

I thought maybe jade also it looks kinda waxy on the inside where I cut it with a chisel

The fracture looks not unlike a type of chert, flint or chalcedony.

Yes I think its gympieite, which is a type of chert.
