Does anyone know about this area? I've detectod there a couple of times with no success but have noted some good size diggings and all the tell tail sighns that indicate it must have been worth their while to dig like crazy.... Some old parish maps name it the corowa gold field and the Redlands hill land care group mention that many horizontal shafts were filled in, but little info can be found about the type and how much gold was found in this area!

Redland (nulla nulla), field was reported to be only half a mile long as it ran into private property.
they basically theorised that the deep lead at Rutherglen continued under the murray.
Australian country journal in 1895 reported a 8 head battery has been crushing quartz for no return.

other reports say very few are making wages.
the wash was 6 to 12" wide at 15-50ft.

Cheers big nugget. Yes very hit and miss over there but I've been surprised at how much shallow work was done. Saint bernards reef and a few others did well at depth but the Chinese hung in on the shallow digging and they normally don't do that for nothing.
