can't seem to find anything on google, anyone have any ideas on this one.

Cheers,

Jason.

Tailoring firm: H. E. & M. Moses, another London business, traded in Colchester between 1855 and c. 1898, opening a factory in Priory Street by 1863.

From: 'Modern Colchester: Economic development', A History of the County of Essex: Volume 9: The Borough of Colchester (1994), pp. 179-198. URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=21987 Date accessed: 06 July 2013.

WOW mbasko thankyou SO MUCH! out of curiosity how did you find this? I tried various search terms with no luck at all.

Googled H.E & M. Moses & found a reference to a New Zealand tailor having worked for Messrs H.E & M. Moses so regoogled adding Messrs & found the above.

H.E. & M. Moses was Henry, the father (born in London 1791), and his sons Edward and Maurice. They made a fortune by manufacturing clothing in England and selling it in Australia though a network of extended family from about 1833. The neglected story of H.E. & M. Moses has recently been told by Adam D. Mendelsohn in his book The Rag Race: How Jews Sewed Their Way to Success in America and the British Empire (NYU Press, 2014) and his article From Moses to Moses: Jews, Clothing, and Colonial Commerce in Purchasing Power: The Economics of Modern Jewish History, edited by Rebecca Kobrin and Adam Teller (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2015). You can read the essential story using Google Books.
Edward, Maurice, and other brothers changed their name from Moses to Beddington in the 1860s.
