hi, congrats, im just starting out, been twice to amherst and talbot, no luck yet. was thinking of creswick next but heard its tough terrain, any tips on good towns to try, creswick, ballarat, clunes , etc

Well done mate, and only 14 pieces if my counting is correct , My first ounce was made up of 82 tiny pieces that had been missed in a flogged area ! That first ounce is definitely the hardest to get , it seems to get easier after that.
Regards Bill

thats awesome! good job mate, i'm yet to get to an ounce i always end up selling it when i'm around 11 grams :)

Congrats again Billabong.
A question...
You stated almost a year.
Any idea how many hours, dollars invested?
Not that it matters, just curious.

Cheers
Rod

Hi Rod,

Good question,

I try to go out one day every weekend when work allows and i am out for approx 6 hours at a time.
Over the year maybe 276 hours.
As for dollars invested i reckon over $6000 on gear.
Fuel i am lucky with as my detecting buddy gets his fuel paid by work...
If i had to pay for fuel it would probably be around $600 over the year !

I need to find lots more of the yellow stuff to break even :D

Mind you, finding gold is just a bonus really, i just enjoy being out in the bush exploring new places :)

Its a great hobby.

Cheers
