Hi ozcopper, I can confirm that the opal locality shown below Bathurst on the map is high quality opal. Although scarce and hard to find it is found in small vughs within basalt above the Abercrombie River. But getting the opal out intact is impossible unless you can cut a block out of the basalt and then grind away the basalt...epic.
