    My Trommel Build

Another step in my build achieved, I finally got a walbanker spec sluice box professionally folded up. This has been my sticking point on this project for like 6yrs lol Now I've just got to make up the hopper part of it and cut down my bread crates to fit etc

    My Trommel Build

    My Trommel Build

I'm undecided on how to best keep the barrel in position, I've got a few ideas of ways to do it now, jist got to pick the easiest way to do it. As for the sluice, I'm going to pretty much run a walbanker under it. With the frame fitting at about 50mm slope the mid crossbars on the end of the...

New prospector chasing knowledge in Mackay

Hi there DrSluice, I'm out at Mbah, so "just down the road" from you lol Would this be Mt C. you are referring to? If so, I've been wanting to get out there for years and kick some rocks around.

    GPZ 7000 ?

Good mate of mine splashed out on the 7k when they were released. He is very happy with it and reckons it paid for itself within 6mths. This is on the same ground that he had detected with his 5k over the years. Reckons the extra depth the 7k can go to makes the difference over the previous...

    My Trommel Build

Here is the larger wiper motor and 3700GPH pump I've got to run the build. I figure the 3700gph pump should have enough flow to run the trommel? I'll install a ball valve into the line so I can adjust the flow rate as needed to run it. As you can see the wiper motor is rather large as well so...

    My Trommel Build

Only problem is the tube is stainless and I don't have/know anyone with access to a tig welder to put that style of ring on for me. I've even got to travel 200km to find a shop with a brake press to fold if sluice box up of I want a proper fold rather then a dodgy home made job style lol

    My Trommel Build

Yeah I've got some casters for it to run on, just got to figure out how to keep it in the one spot on the roller so it doesn't walk off the end without just using a cross bar at the lower end to rub on the trommel

    My Trommel Build

Prob a bit large in size, as the tube is about 14" diameter, lucky ive got a big strong wiper motor to turn it. This will do unless I can find other suitable lighter material to make it our of on the dirt cheap

    My Trommel Build

Update.. I've got the trommel barrel built, ended up using an old fire suppression bottle off a mining truck and windowed it out and bolted in mesh and agitator bars for it. I'll get some photos of it when I'm back at work in a few days. Trying to fold up the sluice part at the moment using...

    My Trommel Build

As requested a photo of some of the materials that I've scrounged together for the build. The mesh might be a bit large (20mm welded stainless) for what I want so am keeping an eye out for some smaller stuff, maybe some 1/4 expanded mesh.

Lol, I don't think the mines would pay for that with the cost it would be, let alone the maintenance costs dealing with all the bulldust, if only you guts would turn on your boom sprays from time to time :playful: Hook us up to get on dragline crew, I want to get off the tools within the next...

    Kalgoorlie Super Pit

Hey goldpick, is there a warning on the ground probe radars about going in front of them when they are active? Or are they low energy output?

    Fossils From Work

Working in a coal mine I get to see a lot of ancient rock, and occasionally I find some rocks with fossils in them. So far though I've only managed to find leaves, but am forever on the lookout for an animal as my son is mad keen on dinosaurs and extinct animals. I've got buckets of leaf...
