    Mudgee NSW old reservoir

The deactivated and drained old reservoir contains a nice bush walk and bike track as I discovered recently. There are many old rivulets and feeds into what is now a dry clay pan. And I can't help but think of the lots of gold bits that must have been sluiced down the hill over the years...

Minelab gpx 4500 - charging battery in the bush

These are good: http://www.arkcorp.com.au/c/37/arkpak-portable-power Mine has a slightly used car battery in it and works fine. As for solar panels I have: https://www.projecta.com.au/solar-panels-controllers Look under the section "soft folding kits" and select....again, mine is 12V 120W...

Minelab gpx 4500 - charging battery in the bush

For general charging of gear don't use a generator. Genny negatives -only charges while it runs - does not store electricity -have to carry fuel -noise/fumes -some sites wont allow them Genny positives -good for high current draw gear such as power tools -doesn't need sun -delivers 240 V so...

    shallow depth scuba in rivers

Good articles thanks for showing me...bought the ATX on a whim and looking at the tube vids on river gold sniping it may stay in the car. Sniping looks more a visual technique...we'll see in October when I get back from hiking in Spain :)

    shallow depth scuba in rivers

Yeah good point - I have an ATX rated to 10 foot/3M, so that will have to do, and can invest in a waterproof pointer so should be right...at least it's fresh water so if the poo hits the fan the electrics might dry out rather than fry... Will revisit this when the weather warms up a bit!

    shallow depth scuba in rivers

So one of my other interests is diving...walking up the Turon river recently I thought to come back in the warmer weather with a wetty and diving gear. Surely this must be a good way to get in among the bedrock crevices? I've not heard anyone doing the same thing so thought to see if anyone's...

    military junk

A few bits of junk from an old Army training ground in Sydney. The coagulated lump is a buckle and the dangly things are radio/electronics dust caps. Most impressive is the 55 gram lead projectile - sure wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of that!

Katoomba NSW and Blue Mountains generally

Hi not sure where to put his post.... Gotta be in / around Katoomba tomorrow for the day tomorrow and thinking of chucking the defector in the truck.... Other than the obvious off limits Nat Park and usual no-go zones - if there anywhere up there worth a swing? Will be driving up from Manly...

@ Heatho....am in Manly on North Steyne but being a Wuss It's been too bloody hot lately to go swinging.....however with the southerly change I'm beginning to wake up...I fancy a swing at Long Reef as I hope it has less messy tourists chucking out metal litter and more locals losing intersting...
