Thanks for all the input guys, Ive decided Ill stick with the 45 and save up for an sdc, after all the 45 is an awesome machine and has been finding me gold... as they say if it aint broke dont fix it

Yes I have also found damp soil can improve depth and sensitivity but also if its too damp/wet will create a lot of false signals and effectively reduce depth.

I have the 9 elite and Im very happy with its capabilities, I love the 45 its just the fact the sdc is compact and easier to pack for trips other then that I cant fault the 45 and tbh Id love to just have both lol

Im still undecided but Ill give you a shout if I do go for the change

Thats not a bad deal, Ill check with the dealers on a trade in deal first, if its not worth it Ill sell privately and then add the extra to purchase the sdc ... I would like to just buy the sdc and keep the 45 but The missus wouldnt let me live long enough to use the 2300 once she found out hahaha

Not yet, the closest dealer to me is miners den and they arent open untill Monday so Ill make a call then and see what they say

I purchased it new it August 2015 not sure if still has warranty but it is in good nick and great working order, only reason for thinking about letting it go is it takes up more space then a sdc would

So Ive been thinking about trading in the gpx4500 and going for an sdc2300. The 4500 is a great machine but I just love the idea of the sdc being so compact and water proof. Just wondering what sort of trade in value the 4500 would have and if its really worth doing. What are your thoughts? Cheers

Finally broke the drought and recovered some nice little nugs

Waved the 9 around a bit this week end with great results, 4 lil mugs to a total of 1.86 g Smallest being 0.16g from about 4-6inches deep. Cant wait to get back out with it now

I was there last week end, the creek is very dry, no water flowing at all and is basically a few puddles in the deepest sections only, the good news is you can still pan and some great spots are accessible while the water is low :playful:

With my last few trips of detecting coming up empty handed Ill be happy with just one nugget. 466 just blows my mind ... kind of makes me think I been doing something wrong this whole time :lol:

Wow thats a fair few nugs and a lot of trash lol I dont have an sdc but I do have a 4500 equipped with a 9 coilteck that seems pretty damn sensitive so I might be able to pin something small. Thanks again shauno

My advice would be first understand what it is your doing to your engine and how it works then make an informed decision on your calculated risk. It also helps to know a little about your engine if your out away from town and some thing does go wrong because lets face it you never break down in...
