Bone conduction headphones with APTX codec

Ages ago I started looking for some bone conduction headphones to use with my Vanquish 540. I dont like over ear headphones as I like to know whats going on around me. I have a Shokz open run headset and its unusable on the detector because of the delay - maybe 250mS or so. I spotted this...

Bottle information? Triangular bottle about 35cm tall

Does anyone recognise this bottle? Found riverside in Perth. I figured it was some 70s liquor bottle but it has no markings on it at all.

Is this just some 70's costume bling?

Found along the river near Perth. It had quite a bit of crust on it from the salty water but vinegar cleaned it up. Made from bronze or brass. Its not particularly well manufactured - no fine detail like a coin would have. Is it just 70's costume jewellery?

Sand scoops - are the ebay units any good?

I'm looking at getting a sand scoop for the beach. I was going to grab the Annaconda one for around $85 but then I found the eBay units for about $55. They look pretty much identical to the Annaconda ones. Anyone bought and had a good experience with an ebay sand scoop...

DIY vent for a drinking water Jerry can.

Someone here will have a good idea.... I have a 20L plastic Jerry can with a push-pull pump to get the water out. When the water comes out the Jerry collapses. I was thinking of a nice Gore-tex screw in vent but they are $$ for what they are. Next thought was a small drip irrigation sprinkler...

    Anyone found teeth before?

I found this along the Swan river this morning. I think it may be an old amalgam filled molar or premolar tooth. It had been in the water a long time. Its metallic at the thick end. I scraped it with my pocket knife and it was shiny at the top side and soft-ish calcium like down the bottom. A...

Is this an old pen? Brass with a jewel.

Found by the river about 10 inches down. Its brass with a jewel (decorative?) on the rear end. One end is split probably from some sort of ferrous insert that has rusted and expanded. Any idea what it may be?

How old is this lipstick case?

I reckon this is a lipstick case. How old is it likely to be? The lid is jammed on. Its got a letter M, W or E on the lid depending on how you look at it. Probably an M. I googled cosmetics manufacturer logos without any luck.

Bone conduction bluetooth headset with low latency APTX - options?

I think this has been covered to some extent a few times but each time I go looking for information I end up at a dead end. I've got a Vanquish 540 and want a bone conduction bluetooth headset that will work with it. Some that I have found recommended in other posts are no longer available...

    Minelab Vanquish straight shaft conversion.

My son 3D printed the parts to do a straight shaft conversion on my Vanquish 540. It's just printed in PLA, if it works out OK he'll print us some in a stronger plastic. It seems reasonably strong so far. The files were in an online open free repository, total printing time was around 7 hours.

Belts and accessories for treasure / coin hunting - what do you use?

This is probably old hat for the veterans here but I figured I'd share a handy device I found for attaching tools to my metal detecting belt. It's a toggle fitting to hang things like digging trowels or pin pointers from. It seems reasonably secure and is quick to re-hitch. It's sold as a tool...

    Radar pin pointer - almost...

I've just discovered radar stud finders. Maybe with some further development they are the future of (very expensive) pin pointers.

Old bullets - how to render them safe

I'm finding a few live 303 and 22 bullets. I'm guessing they have all been in the ground for 50+ years. I lightly gripped the 303 in my lathe chuck and used the tailstock drill chuck to pull the slug out of the casing. All slow smooth and gentle. The charge was so old and weathered it barely...

What is this fastener looking thing - a book binder?

I've found a few of these at different sites. They look like they are made from copper. I've found them in varying lengths. Are they binding fasteners for old government books?

ID help on this brass or copper acorn shaped thingo??

Any ideas on what this could be. Its non magnetic so I guess brass or copper. About 15mm long x 12mm diameter. The grid squares are 5mm. It has a quite small hole in the top. Based on where it was found its 1920 to 1950's. I was thinking a clothing drawstring end but were they even a thing in...

I was looking for coins along the river yesterday and found a jellyfish with a TID of 19. As a newby I initially thought it could be down the the water in the jelly fish, amusingly it turned out he was on top of a fishing sinker.

    WA. Detecting heritage listed sites.

I've read that detecting of heritage listed site and national parks is not allowed. I'm trying to understand this better so as to avoid hassles with rangers etc. Googling only gives me metal detecting articles stating the above restrictions. I cannot find any definitive information on any...

    WA resource - Carnamah historical

The Carnamah Historical Society has an interesting web site that some of us might like to have look around. It's got data bases for old vehicle registrations, livestock brands, cemetery records and a register of all WA school teachers prior to about 1980. This is some of the pages; ● Early...

    Hilux's finds

I found this along the river in Perth. It looks like it might be brass. The detail on the decorative part is all intact and quite detailed. It has a single pin across the back. Those little blue flowers around the periphery are about 1.5mm across. Any ideas on when these were made or fashionable?
