small lead shot is all the test item you need... with my VLF machines, i use the ball out of a BIC pen.. :)

I added the mod at your own risk part.. I wouldn't trust any of them as far as i could shove the detectors up their xxxx. I've read 4 stories in the past month about people sending away perfectly functioning GPX,GP and F1 machines, And getting back unusable bricks.

ATX being the better more sensitive of the 2 units, I would still go with the TDI price and performance.. TDI does detect small god, you've just got to be moving that coil low and slow..

Okay did some fiddling around, hooked an amp upto the bench power supply, current is reading 304mA with the detector screaming overload.. and about 14.7 mA with just threshold (speaker)

Yeah, Don't do that! never know what kinda wiring is going on inside, one tug in the wrong place, and you're borked! I like the sound of that, If i were going to buy one, It would be from those guys. I don't think they would have gone overboard with the hot glue, but I'm sure most of the work...

Keep at it, if you do swing over a bit, You'll know it.. I'm tempted to buy one just to get a look at what they've done to modify the stock threshold and tone.. I'd imagine its some sort of low/high pass filter.. But I can't really justify $2300 for a sneak peak at something I'd never attempt...

He's talking about the 14x9 Nugget Finder.. its a nice coil.. but yeah.. You're on the right track Reeks. 8" commander, 6" coiltek, 10x5" coiltek mono, NF Sadie 8x6, they're all great.. pick any one and it will do the job..

SD2100 1996, Whites SPP 2014... The fact that the question was asked shows how far ahead of the game Minelab really are lol.. really wish i had held onto the TDI-SL now :( I still say the SPP will knock over the 2100 probably the 2200D /v2 as well.. They age well that's for sure..
