    Back Yard Mining

That's a handy bit of gear dwt, I'll definitely use your idea :) No time to make anything today though and I'm off for the weekend. Will be trying to get most of it done today or at least get it soaking.

    Back Yard Mining

The dam does need an extra Mega litre and I have had to fight through tree roots today, just saying. :) Not to worried about claim jumpers, let me put it this way. The sheep didn't die of natural causes. Got my 50m of class 12 poly and fittings, ended up with a couple of meters spare so am...

    Back Yard Mining

Used a little Kobelco 5 ton excavator, Great little machine. If a chook dies and I have to bury it I'll be borrowing one of the relo's 20 ton excavator. Foxes are cunning and will dig deep to get a dead chook. Off into town for 50m of poly so I can move water.

    Back Yard Mining

I believe there is another meter of pay gravel below the depth I was at but couldn't get any deeper with my excavator. If I do get some colour out of it I'll be digging another hole for sure.

    Back Yard Mining

Got plenty of old bath tubs that I used in a aquaponics concept green house but was thinking of using a clay breaker-wetting agent will give the dish liquid a go first. Fair amount of pipe clay in there.

Stoyve has seen me pan so he be able to confirm the gold is probably on the ground in the gravel

    Back Yard Mining

So what does a prospector with and excavator do if they know they are on top of a deep lead in gold country? I had to dig a pit to dispose of some livestock carcases, I figured that if I'm going to dig a big hole I may as well chase the bedrock. Photos can be deceptive this hole is approx...

    Full Time Gold Prospector?

I'm not talking from experience just what I'm told, it may not be annual leave but it's still time off. Not to mention it's a good job for a young bloke with some nice benefits. You need a fossicking permit in NSW for state forests, you can do beaches and parks for jewellery if you cant get...

    GPR v GPZ ?

I did look at Magnometers some time ago, i'm not sure the definition is there TBH. Still, the tech evolves like everything.

    Quad sled detecting

Distance to the coil is important, I've read suggestions of upto 3m behind Quad to reduce false signals. The coil needs to be mounted on a sheet of rubber/nylon skid so it doesn't snag sticks and rocks etc. skid needs to be drawn up at the front so you can drive over logs. Also need a...

That's what my Nephew gets once you factor in nightshift time off.

    GPR v GPZ ?

LOL I like the calculator with car aerial better. The GPZ tech from a laymans understanding sounds very similar to some of the GPR's that actually use magnetic fields in a PI type manner. However I am more interested with radio waves (radar). Really just a thought about the paying the same...

    Full Time Gold Prospector?

I'd also throw in that it would be best to live where the gold is as well. I'd suggest a job that allows you to have more free time to pursue the hobby eg: teacher - 12 weeks off, police - 16 weeks off etc.
