    Coiltek 14" v 11"

Looking at purchasing either the 14 or 11 inch coiltek elite mono for my 4500. Any thoughts on which would be the best of the 2? Detecting in the GT, siding with the 11" to pick up more small stuff, but wondering if the 14" would pick up a lot as well as potentially bigger pieces? Any advice...

    GPX 4500

Gday guys, I've been offered an early version 4500, with 4 coils, harness and headphones for around 3k.... Opinions welcome on whether this is a reasonable price? Slight concern is no warranty and old machine, but people are still running SD machines so not always an issue. Cheers, happy...

    Clay Like Concrete

Was out on the weekend and detecting a pushed area that had been worked over many times. Managed to get through some bushes to an area with no holes, went over a patch and the SDC started humming. An hour later and a foot down and the machine is screaming. Thats where I hit a layer as hard as...

    Sweeping close to the ground

Off out in Amherst area again at the end of this week, and a lot of the areas i'm finding have lots of leaf litter, preventing me getting real close to the ground with the detector. Does anyone scrape a small area clear of leaves etc. before they detect..?

Anyone else find literally everything except gold?

Went out for the day today, with an SDC2300. Picked up 4 nails, 15 shots, 2 iron pins, 3 buttons and an echidna! A frustrating day. Not sure i'm reading diggings very well as a newbie!

    First time out!

G'day all! Wednesday will be my first day out in the Golden Triangle and my first day of gold hunting in Australia. Have hired an SDC2300 for the day and fingers crossed I stumble upon some precious metals! Feeling suitably prepared thanks in part to reading a lot of what is divulged on here...

    Walhalla

Evening all, I headed up to Walhalla for the long weekend with the idea of some panning. Saw people panning in Stringers which i had always thought is on the banned list. Now not sure if I have the right list....? Any pointers? Cheers!

    Pommy immigrant..

Hi all! Moving to Warragul (Vic) at the end of the year and looking to try my hand at detecting and panning in your incredible country. Have had a few panning adventures in the past and some detecting on beaches, but would love to take up the hunt for shiny stuff and combine it with some...
