Keen campers

Hi everyone.
I am a keen camper and want to expand our activities while me, my wife and 2 kids are out and about. I havn't bought anything yet, I will probably hire something first and then decide what I want. We like fossicking and finding little treasures.
Im looking forward to chatting to you all and learning the ropes.

Dipping a toe in the water by way of hiring gear is a pretty good way to get started, in my view. You should certainly be able to find plenty of ideas and advice as needed, right here on PA.

When we started out I looked at the price of new metal detectors and compared it to the price of good used ones, there was not a lot of difference. Then I looked into the cost of detector hire (here in WA about 8-10years ago) and saw that for the price of the hire I could buy and sell again and save money. Of course if you buy wisely you rarely sell and we never did until we'd found a considerable amount of gold and treasure. If you don't mind buying used, metal detectors are one of those few things that don't easily wear out, particularly the older models. Our first Minelab detector and the first Whites detector operate just as well as the day we bought them and they've done an awful lot of work.
