    Catch you all next year

Well, work has decided that I need a 7 month overseas working holiday. (Thats what I told the Mrs.) I'm going to miss my weekends out panning, sluicing and detecting. Unfortuately not much prospecting where I'm headed too and I'm certainly not keen to dig up ANYTHING that beeps on a Metal...

Seeking Your Valued Opinions - Thanks In Advance.

Hey mate, Get yourself a UV led torch off somewhere like ebay for a couple of bucks. Rubies glow under UV light. I have one for when I go through a creek that has known ruby deposits, I have found a few small ones so far. Cheers Philthy

    Why are you called that?

Well, my first name is Phill. After being in the military the usual nickname is your surname with an "O" or a "Y" placed on the end. Unless you do something spectacular and then a new name will be sought out quick smart. "Philthy" was earned early on in my career and stuck ever since. As...

Brass screw threaded rod - what are they from ?

Similar to Rockhunter62, I've used this stuff to repair rifle stocks. Haven't seen it around for a while though. I've still got some somewhere in my kit on the farm.

Will this be the Ultimate Prospecting Vehicle?

Dihusky, It looks like it has the FFR pack too (Fitted For Radio). The distribution box is behind the passenger seat. Does it also have the 100 amp alternator under the hood? If so, all your bush power needs will be well taken care of. We also used to use a 1.3kw 12/24 volt DC generator to...

Will this be the Ultimate Prospecting Vehicle?

I quite rate the 6x6 vehicles. There are no real immediate mods that I can think of. All ours were unmodified of course. Our biggest issue was the rear axle seals and hub gaskets. They were always letting go, so I would carry a couple of spares of each. That way if they do let go, your not...

Will this be the Ultimate Prospecting Vehicle?

Loving the build. In my previous job, I had put 1000's of hours driving and fixing these things.
