Zircon Sapphire hybrid? Or Corundum

Anybody know if a zircon and sapphire/corundum can be joined?
Got this in the walbanker over the weekend, in a know sapphire area.
Got some orange/maroon zircons but only this stone and another smaller green for the trip.
The markings on this stone are quite unusual.
Photos are pretty ordinary my apologies, but the maroon/blue can clearly be seen.
Look forward to peoples thoughts.

G'day Reeko, probably common Corrundum in my opinion. You can see the sergeant stripes that look like part of a hexagonal pattern which is a bit of a give away for sapphire/corrundum.
The owner of the sapphire mine at Inverell mentioned to me one time that he found a sapphire once that had a zircon inside it or attached to it somehow, it's possible mate.

Hey mate, yeah thought it was a sapphire- not quite the quality we were looking for though lol
