G'day all.
I'm after a 25mm inlet and outlet water pump.
Must be petrol driven, preferably 4 stroke.
Must be light.
6,000 to 12,000 gph.
Available for pickup in Melbourne, preferably West or North side.
Any info on who has them in stock, would be gratefully received.
I would consider a used one, but must be in good condition.
Cheers, Ron.

Search "makita water pump" on ebay.
They do a 25mm pump with a 4 stroke 25cc Robin motor.
Kit comes with both hoses and strainer.

Thanks Reeks.
I've seen them on ebay, but for the life of me, I can't find anyone who has one in stock so I can get it for the weekend.
Neet looking pump though.

Cheers, Ron.

Hi Ron,

Did you mean 12,000 Litres per hour ? , if so I have 2 pumps I got from Ebay (real cheap) and so far so good , both are 38mm pumps and 12500 LPH.

Seller seems to have upped the price by $100 since I bought my 2.5HP

and

Yeah mate, I did mean litres. 12,000 gph might be a tad tooo much.

I did see those and a few others on ebay, but I was really after one of those Honda or Makita or similar 4 stroke pumps. They're light as a feather, coming in around 6 to 8 kg. If I get one of these, I might be able to backpack into more remote places. It's an option anyway.

Also, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't find anyone who stocked one this side of Melbourne, especially in a self priming version.

Looks like I'll have to go without this weekend, and seriously consider whether I wait till the rain starts again anyway. There's not even many pools left where I'm going. This weekend might have been the last chance for a while.

Thanks for the effort though.

Cheers, Ron.

Guys ...

Just adding my 10c worth (neutral info) ... I've done everything on a shoe string budget.
I bought a Chinese made pump via eBay ... I've had it for 2 years now with no problems.
Here's a current listing for the same pump --> http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200394974312
Don't know how it will stand up on long term performance and reliability, but so far so good.
Have generally run it around 1/3 throttle for my sluicing, both Mk2 and Mk3 (similar to Wal's).

Cheers,
Dave E

PS. Same setup (but 25mm) is rated for 8,000 LPH throughput (compared with 14kLPH) ... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200394974508

Thanks guys.
I ended up buying one locally. I didn't realize the farm machinery place up the road sold them.
Here's a link to the thread where I posted a picture and details.

I had a look at both the links you guys supplied. Both pumps looked good for the money. Only trouble is, most pumps that style weigh 50% to 100% more, and I really put low pump weight as one of my main criteria.

Both had more flow, but I doubt I'll need any more that 5000lph for my gear, so this one at 6900lph, should give me a bit up my sleeve. At least it will allow me to run the pump at under full revs and not flat chat all the time.

Thanks for the input though.

Cheers, Ron.

Total Tools, and don't accept the price they first tell you. Oh for regular punters who spend a little on tools, ask to join the insiders club, whatever you spend in a year, in Jan you get a store credit to the value of 5% of all your purchases, no matter what price you paid at the time, nice little bonus.
