I'm looking at a bit of a trip to the Sapphire area with Bronny and the dawg around May/June :D Fossicking is something that neither of has done before, so there are a few things we'd like to find out.

1/ Where can we stay with the dog ? (recommended c/p )
2/ What equipment to take, if any
3/ Where to go or do you have to take guided tours ?
4/ We can free camp for 3 or 4 days, depending on heat if that helps
5/ Any other p/a members be in the area at that time ?
6/ What else is there to see and do in the area ?
cheers Keith

I'll be up at Glenalva fossicking area between 12th & 23rd May for a scratch around with a couple of mates. Been there with the mates for the annual trip for the past 6 maybe 7 years. Did Thomahawk Creek before that it's a bit more remote & some times water is a bit scares depending the season. One year the dingoes were down near our camp so if you take a dog you might have to keep an eye on it or the dingoes might get it.
It's bush camping in both the area's mention no facilities & you will need to carry your own water for consumption as well for processing your wash. Don't forget you need a Queensland fossicking licencing & there is a camping fee to camp on the fossicking area despite the fact there is no facilities. Barry
