an old time spoke shave is excellent for making wooden handles.. sometimes a piece of pipe welded in lasts very well if you are really giving the implement a work out. :)

very true kawman, i do like the feel of a wooden handle i have to admit.

Hey Golddigg I think you need an ADZE handle. They were used by sleeper cutters etc and they have that same head. a good produce store should have them.
cheers
Mackka

So now if the check engine light comes on I can find out what's wrong and turn off the warning, and I'm sure it probably does a heap of other cool things to.

Hey Chewy, got the golf cart covered as the inlaws have one, but as for the Z, I think that may be stretching it just a little to far with the CEO! One day maybe! ;)

We're gonna need a trailer soon Keano.
Trying to decide if the detectors or the gold goes in the ute or the trailer :p

Well the 5000 arrived today ands its fare to say I'm stoked! Not only did I get it at a unbelievably good price, it's done no work! Both the 11"s have never been on the unit and the 15" that also came with it has hardly a mark on it...Walshie it's going to be a very long wait till next weekend mate!

I think an adze handle would be the one you need. Trouble is I don't know they make them anymore. Sorry, missed the boat a little. Was talking about Gd's pick handle

Cheers GOlddigg@, did you find a handle or make one to fit?

mate not exactly, the bloke at the market i set him a challenge, hes the kind of guy that sees alot of bits and pieces so figured hed nail it. i said if you can find a handle i'm happy to pay extra. he did but its an axe handle that isnt quite right. It was good for a few months but started to give way. If you seen how much of a hammering i give my tools you wouldn't be surprised :) i am still looking for a perfect fit, its needs to be rounded at both ends of the head section..

The pelican pick would have to be one of my favourite tools. I havn't owned one for about 20 years but am always on the lookout at garage sales.

The handle is exactly 85 cm long. 5cm shorter than the axe handle on the other one. Its a perfect fit and i can see its been shaved to suit. I reckon its an oldie and the bloke has put paint on it so it didnt look so ratty. Very light wood.
