Tag identification please

Found this late last yr north of pine creek NT in some old Chinese diggings the tag has the dates as 1 July 87 to 30 june 88 with Australian coat of arms above has Rec Doc on the back has Reg No 56 Dist 3 the numbers are punch stamp what am I cheers

Yep, dog rego - District 3,Yam Creek N.T., Burrandie N.T., Copper Coast SA,date range1885-1892.

So could be from SA or NT, but thinking SA due to the proximity. Nice find.

Thanks mate though something like that but most people I showed had no idea and thought it was from 1900 I knew it was a lot older I was very happy with the find as to think who lost it and the times back then the life that they had love history you can fine and touch and it was not that far from yam creek.
