An email I received from the UK, on the above Cricket Brooch I found.

The brooch you found probably does relate to one of the early English touring teams. Designs of this kind, especially for belt buckles, were very common during the mid-19th century, while the spotted shirts worn by the 1859 team went out of cricketing fashion not long afterwards. They were still worn by some players on the 1861/62 tour of Australia and it may be this one that your item refers to.
