HI all. My name is Paul I'm a 65 yr old and recently retired. I love camping, fishing etc but have found a new love of gold fossicking! Only have a SDC2300 and some panning gear but looking at doing trips w but with my camper and learn how to find the yellow! My partner will come sometimes & sometimes not and if anyone knows of places less fossicked Please let me know! lol I would likely travel around QLD & sometimes NSW ( which I heard is better for access) any helpful tips would be appreciated friends. Thanks Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to PA.

You've got an excellent detector for the job ahead, so with any luck it won't take you long to start your nugget collection. Access to prospective areas in Queensland can be challenging unless you already know a property owner with suitable ground, but fortunately there are pay-to-detect locations that give everybody a chance to find their own gold.

Have a look at this recent thread for some suggestions:

Hi Paul,
Don't discount the SDC2300 (or your panning gear) as it's a terrific detector to start out being easy to use & nearly always pings some gold, if you are swinging over a good area. It's mostly known for picking up small, shallow bits left behind by other detectors but I've personally seen at least 3x ounce+ nuggets found with an SDC, so they can & do find the bigger bits.
Good luck with info on the less fossicked places 😁
Qld & NSW can both be tricky for access/rules etc. but NSW does have more available area due mostly to the NSW State Forests allowing fossicking with a permit.
