Mackay and surrounding areas

Gday lads I haven't had a great deal of luck locating any areas basing myself from Mackay that I can just walk creeks and pan.

I've talked to a few guys but the only info they'll give me is related to swinging out west.
They say there's gold there but no water in most areas to use a sluice or even pan where they go.

I'm not really interested in detecting so can anyone point me in the right direction for a pan and sluice please ?

You could try the Pioneer River under the bridge on the Mia Mia Connection Road. There were gold mines around Mt Ben Mohr.
