Lantern Mantles.

G,day All,,,, Ever arrived at the destination in the dark to find the mantle in the lantern dammaged ,,, A Gentleman who used to be a coach driver for central Australian tour bus company told Me,,, to stop the mantles falling apart spray them with cheap hair spray when they cool B 4 transporting. It worked 4 Me ,,Mind U the better half was'nt happy about the good hair spray being used !!!!!!

Gave them away mate when LED's came about. Never had a problem since....But boy did i hate busted mantles in the old days....Cheers Wal,

Yea, I gave them away years ago. I now use an inverter and a hand held 240 volt fluro. Much better light than a lantern.

I have been spraying mine with hair spray for about 30 years, always works well and the mantles last years.
