I've just started running some cons through the mackirk clean up sluice and not even 2 tablespoons in and it's choc full of black sand, this could take a while

Might need some fine tuning but in theory the gold should displace the black sand as it packs out.

I run a Mackirk Boss and after each clean out on the creek I do a quick pan-off to get rid of most of the junk and small rocks and finish the rest up at home in the pan, I tried the cleanup sluice thing once upon a time but found I always ended up having to use the pan to some degree anyway so I just do the whole lot in the pan these days

I have a mackirk, I haven't had that trouble. May be you need more of an angle. I find that quicker the water flow better It works.

I think the mackirk was running ok, I was just digging in an area with heaps of black sand, I rigged up a couple of these to try

Hopefully they work, half the fun is making them I suppose

It's a cutting mat from office works, thought I would give it a go, it works good so might have to make a full size one
