Looking at buying a highbanker pump soon, and for around a 1/4 of the price of the Honda the Thornado sure is tempting.

I'm leaning towards the Honda because it's a few kilos lighter and I expect it would be quieter than a cheaper pump.

Couldn't find any DB ratings in the specs listed for either pump, so just wondering if anybody has heard them both running and can tell me if there is much difference between the two noise wise?

Thanks for pointing out another option guys, I will check those out.

I'm still keen to hear how these pumps compare in terms of noise though....

The Honda is much quiter than Thornado.
Also pumps 240 l/m and its lighter so if you can afford one you will be very happy with it.
I use to have a Millers Fall pump which I think is same as Thornado and it was lot noisier.

Im getting mine delivered today/monday and will probably look at fitting another muffler if its too noisy

The Honda is a no brainer if its not about the money! I'm very happy with my Thornado/Rato version but the WX15 is the bomb.

No offence to anyone that has or supplies a thornado/rato/cheapy water pump! But they are noisey! My advise spend the money....low db. Plus you might not get the head pressure you need.
But if ya out in the middle of boofwack and its flat as a tack go the cheapies!!! :D

I got the genquip model basically the same as the thornado. Actually, its exactly the same. Just different colour paint.
same specs, size weight ect ect. Exept the genquip comes with a $300 price tag :8
i bought it long before i had even heard of a thornado.
it has lasted though. I have dropped it. Thrown it. Drowned it and run it for +8 hours a day for several days and its still kicking.
Im sure the thornado one be as reliable with regular oil changes.
However i dont recomend treating it the same way i treated mine. :8

I have a thornado 2" and my bro has the 1.5"
The 2" is much heavier but runs my banker at idle speed the 1.5" is much more easier to carry about and seems to be a decent pump but is fairly loud at operating rpm, have had no issues with either pump in 3yrs
Hope this helps

I have had rato, it is a great pump but it is noiser than the honda I have now.The Rato was replaced becauuse of a transport incident, it was still runnuing well after 3 years. Both are 1.5 inch and the ouut put is so similiar as to not be able to differentiate without measuuring quuantity.
