A friend has bought a bit of machinery that came from the Cadia goldmine in NSW and has found half a handful of black dust inside the bellyguard on the machine

I looked at it under a magnifier and you can see the gold fragments in the stuff

He rightfully owns the ore doesnt he ?

Its only an ounce or two in weight so its not like its going to buy a new ferrari but he wants ideas on how to best recover the gold

does anyone know if the ore can be crushed and panned or does it need a mercury or leaching process to extract ?

Finders keepers I say, without knowing what the ore is, it is a bit hard to know how to process it.

If you can just take a small bit of the ore and crush it up in a dolly or something and see what happens, I am sure others would be able to advice on chemical treatment..

Cheers, Tone
