A question for the experienced among you; Is your brain more full of "where not to look" information or has "where to look" information been more valuable over the long haul? For example:
I know that if I go close to an old working I might find colours left over. That's somewhere I know to look.
I suspect I won't retrieve gold in a lava flow. That's somewhere I know not to look.

"Where to look" is good information to have and will eventually put you on some gold if you are in a gold producing area.
But then again I have found gold on the outside of a river bend when the inside bend is "where to look" when panning.

If you are looking for a new goldfield that the old timers didn't find. You are going to have a bad time
