Hi Deano. Welcome to the forum. I was initially only interested in alluvial type gold prospecting... Pans, Sluices, Finding gold in creeks etc. After joining PA and researching, I have got the prospecting bug BAD :) I know I need to research more to improve my chances of finding gold. So to sooth the lust I decided to buy a detector. I have enjoyed finding pennies etc In parks and beaches and can use my detector ( Garret AT Pro) on the gold fields. It is more a coin/relic detector tho and not a specialised gold detector. The Pro Pointer is more a find tuning device. So you need to dig smaller holes to find your treasure. Not really a detector as such. more a very useful accessory. I'm sure the more experienced guys will offer their HUGE combined knowledge to help you. Good luck with your journey into prospecting Rod
