    GPX 5000 battery voltage.

A bit of explanation. I bought the GPX 5000 sensond hand, a month or two back. I am a bit of a modder. I decided to give it a new battery with a larger capacity, so bought ten Panasonic cells that are 3.6A/h. Charger these batteries in my Li-ion charger before building my new battery pack with...

    GPX 5000 battery voltage.

OK. I was checking the wrong pins. I now read 8.3 volts between pins 1-4. I was looking at 1-5. This is new battery pack I built, (admit now), using 10 Panasonic cells so this battery has twice the capacity a new Minelab battery has. Thank you.

    GPX 5000 battery voltage.

After fully charging the Lithium battery as the instructions say, it measures only 7.8 volts. A fully charged Lithium battery should measure 8.4 volts. Does Minelab set the voltage low on purpose, or is my charger faulty?

Like Benny Hill used to say: "Learning all the time!" Thanks heaps. I guess I thought I could come over, get my permit, and wave the magic wand around and go back home with sparkles.

    New to WA prospecting.

Hi Wal, and thanks. Yes it is daunting and off-putting all the regulations. We would be limited to two weeks there max, three weeks including the travel there and back, so we might be wasting our time, and money on fuel.

    New to WA prospecting.

G'day fellow seekers. Am I barking up the wrong tree for WA regulations. As I read it, in WA after getting the required permits it seems to me I have to nominate where I wish to do my prospecting, and then I am allocated this tiny plot of land where I am allowed. Here in Victoria a miners...
