    Best detecting pick?

This is the one I have been using, constructed from a plough shear, a bit of tube from a trampoline and a fibreglass maddock hand with the fat end cut off. I drilled the handle end and forced a rare earth magnet into it. Being from a plough shear it holds an edge very well when you have to cut...

    Outback Survival tips

I have been out with a couple that have spent many years in the scrub. It always amazes me that when I look up to see where they are they are waaaaay off and heading further. My method is to pull the Ute up under a nice tree, get set up and head off, I stay within sight of the Ute, when I have...

    Maps

In QLD you are restricted to three ( I think) fossicking sites. To go to those sites you have to get authority from owner or lease holder

    Dry Blowing vs Winnowing

I did have a wiper motor on this for a short while but didn't like taking a battery and didn't like listening to the "clack clack" noise all the time so reverted back to the hand operation

What pump for a 10" highbanker?

I made a small dry blower approx 250x1500 and made it to have a front wheel and removable handles so it is like a wheel barrow when I want to move around. I just put all the other "stuff" like pans and classifiers on it and wheel away

    Removing old roofing screws.

They usually are aluminium and the only way is to se a flat board across the corries and a pitch around and hammer. It will probably pull the heads off but at least then you can get the sheets off the other alternative is to put new batteries on top of the sheets and then put the new Cory over...

Caravan solar charging and gauges enquiry.

The only thing I didn't see mentioned here was, when you changed over to lithium batteries did you also change the controller. I might be corrected about this but, I have heard that the normal MPPT controller doesn't like lithium because there is a subroutine in there that does a sulphide...

    What have we got ?

Could be something along the lines of a tent peg puller as in slide it onto the peg from the side and pull up. Is only a guess. Is the spike part of it sharp?

    Today I BOUGHT

Bit of an "oops" was not only a reply but more of a bit of general information ..... comes with " old timers" as we get older

    Today I BOUGHT

With your solar setup be aware that you must use a "lithium compatible" controller. Most controllers have a "desulphuring" option in them and lithium does NOT like it so get a compliment controller or a a good MPPT controller with the option to turn this function off in the setup. As you and...

Knee Replacement & the effect on detecting with a Minelab PI

I have two titanium bars and six tech screws in my back. Lol unless it sit down beside the 4500 it doesn't seem to bother it maybe because I am 6 ft tall and my back is far enough away from my swing

    What have I found?

In the pic, bottom left, there is a 12 volt alternator that has obviously been added. My guess would be so they could use a starter motor to fire it up. As for the four pointer, I have been a surveyor since the late 1960s and personally haven't seen that form of survey mark, I think the clue...

    Today I MADE

Not made today, but thought some might be interested in how I go about it. Ok, on the harness,I had the camel pack sewn onto the harness by a saddle maker. The other very important part of the harness setup is there on the right hand side. Yes it is the front of a thong, and wine walking just...

    Best portable dryblower

I built one out of aluminium with bellows, is hand operated, but did put a wiper motor on it for a while but got sick of toting the battery about works just fine by hand. I usually get a couple of 20ltr buckets of material from a creek or some sites across an area I wish to check, then bring...
