    Minelab CTX3030 tips, settings, questions

As a test, brush the coil on some foliage, such as small bracken, where you know there is no metal in the ground. This will hopefully show if the wiring is loose inside or not and possibly creating a signal. A mate of mine had false signals with his ctx3030 and it was the coil. He got a new coil...

Minelab X-TERRA 70 Target IDs, tips, questions

Got my 705 today, and can't wait to get out there thanks for the id's above. Best i've found on the net so far was a post from a guy in canberra who put this up. Assume i'm not breaking any ip as it was on a public forum? From my initial tests and some trawling it looks like an id can be +...

Garrett Pinpointer Pro Pointer information, tips and questions

Tried it with my minelab pointer and it just seems to blank out the target completely? Would perhaps need to back off a little instead of turning off and on near the target. Never been a real issue anyway, but may tip the scales in favour of a Garrett pointer if you were buying one and weren't...

    DO YOU SCRUB OR HOVER?

I scrub as I've heard the lower the better, and that it is one of the reasons we use skid plates, but it's not based on any research. If using the NF 17" elliptical that isn't solid, I tend to keep it just above, otherwise too many sticks get caught. My fav coil is the NF Sadie 8x6, seems to...

Hey ag man, Your right, small world. No doubt we'll bump into each other soon and I'll give it back, I know what it's like to loose a favorite tool. But I will keep any gold I manage to scoop out with it in the meantime ;) Cheers ..Dave

    Quick Build Crevice Tool

wow - can see the problem now. i originally thought maybe a fully charged dustbuster with a narrow pipe, but that wouldn't have enough power either. good luck mate - hope there is some shiny stuff at the bottom of it.

Running a RIVER SLUICE to test for Hi-banking locations

another great vid wal. thanks. Is this sluice about the same size as your highbanker, but without the hopper? it looks a bit wider if so, does it mean you could just have it so the back of the highbanker could bolt on and off to let the river water through - or would the leg framework get in...

    Quick Build Crevice Tool

Hey Tone, managed to find this one left behind in a local creek yesterday. Much faster way to build one. It's gone straight into the kit bag (unless someone wants to claim it) looks much bigger in the pic than it really is.

Fittings, Layflat, Suction hose for Highbankers..

I've hooked mine up to 1" caravan sullage hose - different lengths that can click together. really light weight and goes into one of those hose bags the caravanners use Am I heading for trouble with this stuff? I tried flat hose but it wants to bulge out and take up space else it kinks, the...

Forgot to add the most important - a spare bog roll you're right guys about flying missiles - cargo barriers are also a really worth while addition. nugget - i just went for the smallest gme uhf - the tx3100: super compact and has worked a treat.

What do you carry in your 4x4?

Best thing i ever did was a set of drawers in the back of the 4b, used to have tubs of gear and always the thing i wanted next was on the bottom. i try to keep it to a minimum on roof rack - shovel and hi lift jack, and if outback the 2nd spare dual battery, two pans, a spare tarp and fold-up...

    Advice on GPS units

Started using my iPad with the mud maps app a month or two ago, it was expensive compared to a lot of others but has really good features. Now they have bought out mud map 2 and consider it a different product rather than an upgrade. Not happy jan.
