I found this sixpence a couple of weeks ago , very frustrating, someone has drilled a hole in it , right through the date . I found a half penny not far away from it I few weeks ago , I think it may be 1860 something.

Thank you for your info. It is a halfpenny,it is 28mmwide and 8.59grams ( a bit of loss for wear and tear ). I found a 1877 halfpenny about a metre away but in terrible condition. cheers Bruce

I understand where you are coming from , I am 71 yo and still reasonably fit, I own a 5000 and was thinking about buying a 7000, I like the 5000 had it for about 10 years. Still thinking about it hehe. cheers Bruce

I never detect near old diggings ,I think they have all been detected to death . I have been detecting for about five years now and I have about 5 oz of gold .i live in SA and only detect about 4 weeks a year ,mainly in Victoria . I went to Clermont for 3 weeks this year .
