GPX 6000 using the 14DD in cancel question

I've got a fair few coils to choose from for the 5000 including 17x13 and 14x9 evos. Great coils and monos are my preferred choice for general detecting. But they won't work in high EMI, so my only options currently are the stock 11" DD in cancel or a Coiltek 14" AI. The Coiltek 14" AI gives...

GPX 6000 using the 14DD in cancel question

Thanks, that's good to hear. I can get the 5000 to run quiet but then it's not sensitive like the SDC is. Will have to try a 6000 on some test pieces and see how it goes.

GPX 6000 using the 14DD in cancel question

Thanks mbasko, would be interesting to see how it goes on speccies in cancel- I can't find any info on that. Hopefully better than the 5000. What I really need is something that performs like an SDC but in cancel mode. Maybe the 6000 could do it, or maybe what I'm looking for doesn't exist yet...

GPX 6000 using the 14DD in cancel question

Hi, I always found the SDC to be excellent on specimen gold in quartz- until EMI levels changed for some reason and it became no longer usable! GPZ 7000 is also not usable due to EMI. The 5000 is usable in cancel or with an AI coil, but it just doesn't seem to be anywhere near as good as the SDC...

    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

Yeah and they were the big ones! That I could get out of the pan with my finger. Would have also been around 30-40 tiny bits that I just slurped straight into the sniffer bottle. From 2 buckets of dirt I put through the sluice.

    ⭐ Alluvial Show n Tell

Pretty reefy and not water worn, hasn't travelled far. Magnified in the photo too, the biggest bit would almost be detectable size if it was shallow. I probably have detected smaller bits than that with the SDC.

Great gold there jamiealdridge! Few little bits today from S.A.

    GROUND BALANCE

I run the 5000 in fixed and ground balance as required if it gets out. Mostly in fine gold, if it gets too hot then enhanced. That covers most of it. Very rarely smooth, normal or extra. Never really used tracking much. Have tried specific GB, can't remember why now, was probably for one...

    GPZ7000 Smallest Finds.

Got a small bit a couple days ago, just looking up how small others are getting. Pretty small by the looks of it. This bit was in a chunk of conglom, near the surface or might have even been right on top. Cracked it up when I got home and was a little bit surprised to find gold. Got it soaking...

    The Worth Of The 2300

Ah OK. Need a small coil option for the 7000 to get in those tight spots, something like an 8" round or small eliptical?

    The Worth Of The 2300

I'm convinced the SDC is better on specimen type gold than the 5000, something to do with the MPF I believe. The 5000 definitely punches deeper on the more solid bits. Often hear that the SDC is only good on the small shallow bits, and it does very well at that, but I've also found gold with it...

    Minelab Gold Monster 1000

Nice work, I just got one, have only used it twice. First time I used auto. Did some air tests and found manual 10 gave more depth. Second time I ran on manual 10 mostly. But in deep all metal it goes off all the time on hot rocks, I ran in gold mode and it quietened the hot rocks down a lot...

Makro Gold Kruzer information and questions

Looks good. So if you get EMI you can change the frequency? What are the other 5 frequencies, or is it always 61kHz?

    Minelab SDC2300 information and questions

Nah it's not the batteries, had that issue early on and fixed it with a few laps of electrical tape around the batteries. With that problem it used to shut off and restart. The batteries are tight now, I even made a little wire tool to get them out because they don't slide out on their own.

    Minelab SDC2300 information and questions

Hi Shauno, yes the towers are popping up everywhere in the Adelaide Hills, planes fly over all the time and there's also underground phone lines, electric fences and power lines. But on Saturday I used it in an area that was pretty well away from all this- it ran fine for a few minutes, I dug...
