Angus mackirk AM Boss Recirculating setup

Had a bad back today and couldn't get out so decided to build a recirculating sluice frame for the AM, pretty happy with the result as it weights bugger all. Has three height adjustments and held onto the gold well and gems around .8 carats + .
I Haven't worked out exactly what i'm going to do at the header to allow the water to pool a bit better but some miners moss and a few cables ties worked for the test.

Just what the doctor ordered, what size pump are you using? Judging by the fact there seems to be a 12 v battery assume that's what's powering it?

bilge pump 2500gph mate to be honest the am works best with heaps of water but I couldn't find my 3600gph pump.

had a bit of a play today and finished the dam section of the sluice sorry about the poor camera work its getting there i'll charge the battery up and give it another test tomorrow

hey mate its a 12v rc50 battery the 2000gph pump draws 6 amps and the little one draws 5amps can usually get about 4 hours out of it max

got the boss dialed in pretty well using two 1500GPH pumps and miners moss wrapped around the pipe to control flow. I had a test run down the creek and captured all the tailings and only missed 1 flake, i think i'm going to abandon this unit and use it for a river sluice only when there's good flow and buy one of the smaller AM sluices for recirc rather than lug two bilge pumps around with twice the plumbing.

Tend to agree with you about the boss, I run the AUTrap and find it preforms excellently in high river flow situations, and find that about 3inch's of water is needed in order for the drop riffles to work effectively. When set up well one person cannot overload a boss or AuTrap.

I haven't tried it yet for sapphires, however it will hold onto flour gold very well.

At home for cons clean up I use a 1meter length of ribbed matting and a hose running gently through it, experimenting over the time, if you have your sense with you no gold will escape it and the bonus is the black sand residue is minimal Here's a close up of the end of a cons run. It's like a cheap version of a finishing table.

which rubber mat have you used ?

there is two kinds of ribbed matting i have seen so far , one has grooves about 1.6 mm deep and the other has grooves about 2.8 mm deep

i have been using the 2.8 mm one but find it a bit slow to clear out if there is a lot of ironstone , i am just using a small bilge pump with it on cons

I use two kinds, the fine matt i get from clark rubber I dont like the bunnings mat because the v is consistent rather than having a flat area for flat gold to settle on, and the other larger one I cant recall where i got it or i'd get some more, its the bom.com it holds big nugs really well. I have never been able to get meters of it its always doorstep mats that are no longer than 25cm.

The mat I use is similar to yours GOlddigg, except that it has a Square profile and not the Vee as I believe it create better high & low vortex's The profile is 3x3x3mm and can be purchased in 1m / 1.2m / 1.5m / 2meter widths, with the ribs running with the width, AND the bonus is you can buy it by the 100mm not having to fork out for a whole meter length.

I have a piece 1200x400mm and lay it in a crude square wooden channel 100x200x100 and 1200mm long, so that it forms a semi circle (just like the snowboard tube in the winter Olympics), I then clamp the garden hose to the end, do the usual angle/collection bucket water the lawn etc etc.. With practice you can literally "wash" all the heavies away.
